Support the Anti-Puppy Mill Bill at the Capitol

Are you an extremely patient, professional individual that can remain calm in the face of conflict? Are you flexible, fine with lots of waiting around and possible reschedules at the last minute? Are you committed to the issue of fighting puppy mills and in awe of the democratic process? If you answered “YES” to all of these questions we need your help! Click here to RSVP ASAP!

Thurs, 2/12
Colorado Humane Lobby Day

Think only professional lobbyists can lobby? Think again! You are invited to participate in the Colorado Humane Lobby Day in Denver to make a tremendous difference for animals. In 2009, we will focus on getting puppy mill legislation passed, so come if you can!

We already have over 200 people signed up! Click here for more info and to RSVP. RMAD strongly supports this event, being led by the Humane Society of the US. Can you help with organizing this event? Call the office to find out more about the variety of volunteer jobs, 303-449-4422 or email: mikes@rmad.org.

Greyhounds not racing in Colorado (for now)

Thurs, Jan 22nd, the promoters of greyhound racing had their day at the state capitol. HB1095 would have made this pathetic form of dog abuse more profitable and most likely would have brought racing back to Colorado. RMAD was contacted by Grey2k USA’s board member Charmaine Settle, and a bevy of organizations and individuals lined up to oppose the bill.

Opponents included RMAD, Grey2K USA, and the Humane Society of the US. And how often do we get to collaborate with Focus on the Family?? Indeed a FotF staff person testified against the bill (because of gambling). We all had lunch together and got a bit better acquainted.

Because of us, the bill is stalled in the Finance Committee at this time. It could come up again, but it’s unlikely. Victory!

Join the Yahoo RMAD WatchDog Group

It’s more than a listserv. You’ll get occasional emails AND you’ll have access to all kinds of info. For instance, read the draft of the anti-puppy mill bill being introduced in the Colorado Legislature; it’s in the Group’s Files.

Keep in the loop on everyone’s efforts to protect dogs and puppies. Click here to get on the RMAD WatchDog Yahoo email list to start connecting. To find us, type “RMAD WatchDogs” in the Search feature

“Real courage is moving forward when the outcome is uncertain.”

“Your success will astonish everyone.”

These first two are from Tsing Tao in Boulder, home of AWESOME vegan entrees!

“Happiness will be yours when a conservationist, an animal-rights activist, and the host of a weekly talk show all label you good for the environment.”
