February 15, 2008

Congratulations to each one of you that took the time this week to contact the city of Parker to encourage them to pursue humane approaches to coyote management. Parker took the high road on the issue and suspended their ill-conceived plan to kill a few “select” animals that were considered troublesome. We successfully made the point that their methods and approach were neither scientifically nor ethically sound. Thank you for taking the time to speak up!

Now speak up with RMAD! Our THINK GLOBAL Humane Education Program is taking off—do you want to be part of it?
THINK GLOBAL is a network of volunteers that deliver talks to school groups, social clubs, churches, and other organizations. Recognizing the pivotal role animal issues play in so many of the important topics of the day—from global warming to cancer research to human rights—THINK GLOBAL asks us to reflect on our beliefs and practices, cultivates respect for the plight of others and encourages critical thinking.

There are many options for how you can help, whether it be as a trained speaker, a host and organizer, or an interested parent or student. Learn more about THINK GLOBAL here. If you have any questions about the program, please contact Lynee’ Zajac, THINK GLOBAL coordinator.

Tickets for the first-ever Denver Veg Fest are on sale at
RMAD’s Web store. Tickets are $10, with two other options: a reduced price for those who need assistance and a $20 price for those who would like to sponsor a ticket for another attendee.

More nutrition and health questions have been posted at Ask Ryan! Take a look and be sure to submit yours.

Volunteer Opportunities

THINK GLOBAL Humane Education Speakers: RMAD's THINK GLOBAL Humane Education Program is a network of volunteers who deliver talks to school groups, social clubs, churches and other organizations. Potential speakers will be provided with training (to be offered in both Denver and Boulder). More information and a volunteer form here.

Letter writers: We’ve assembled a team of letter writers to address issues in the local ( Colorado) media. As needs arise, we will send out a form e-mail that includes the pertinent media, names and addresses, tips, background information, etc.—making it as easy as possible for you to lend your voice on behalf of animals.

Vegetarian outreach: Help distribute RMAD’s 32-page, full-color guide to vegetarian living in Colorado, Compassionate Living. If interested, please e-mail volunteer@rmad.org.
