November 9, 2007

Welcome back to eNews! We’ve been on a bit of a hiatus while moving our office to Denver and getting settled in a new community.

A number of large projects that have been in the works for some time are now heading into their next or final phase, and it feels really good. What we’ve been up to:

► Wrapping up production on THiNK!, our bold introduction to vegetarianism for teens

► Addressing the trapping of coyotes in Greenwood Village (with an announcement to follow soon)

► Working with Boulder business owners to humanely and creatively deal with pigeon issues

► Updating and reprinting the popular Compassionate Living, a guide to vegetarianism in Colorado (if you need copies, let us know)

► Taking the lead on a case of horrific animal cruelty in rural Cheyenne Wells ( Colorado)

► Expanding our youth leadership development in order to equip tomorrow’s leaders with the tools needed for decades of animal advocacy to come

► A full redesign of PrairieWatch.org, an interactive prairie dog tracking site; check it out, check on your favorite colony, and help us help prairie dogs

► Our Boulder open space project, in which a team of biologists ventured into Boulder’s grasslands to study the health of land deemed unsuitable for prairie dog habitat

► A prairie dog relocation in Colorado Springs (a very complicated and time-consuming process)

► Assisting the public with dozens and dozens of requests for help with animal issues throughout

We’re busy, and we need your support! Please make a donation today, and please attend our upcoming Holiday Party on December 8 at the Crawford Mansion in Denver. Details can be found on our Web site, where you can also purchase tickets. Any questions or to volunteer for the event, please e-mail Lynne.

Volunteer Opportunities

Humane education speakers:
RMAD's Humane Education Speakers Bureau is a network of volunteers who deliver talks to school groups, social clubs, churches and other organizations. Potential speakers will be provided with training (to be offered in both Denver and Boulder). You can fill out this form to get started.

Letter writers: We’ve assembled a team of letter writers to address issues in the local ( Colorado) media. As need s arise, we will send out a form e-mail that includes the pertinent media, names and addresses, tips, background information, etc.—making it as easy as possible for you to lend your voice on behalf of animals.

Check out RMAD’s online volunteer form and let us know about yourself and where your interests lie.
