Greetings! You are getting this notice because you are on
the RMAD members or announce email list. You're on this list because you
asked to be on it. Previous weekly announcements are available at: http://rmad.org/weekly Announcements: RMAD Events: Other Events: Ongoing:
Rocky Mountain Animal Defense express our gratitude to Dan Landes and the Watercourse crew for hosting RMAD's second annual Dining Out Day. We thank Dan Hanley for putting his time and heart into the effort, and we thank the volunteers and supporters who made this fundraiser a tremendous success. The event raised more than $2000 to support RMAD's efforts on behalf of our animal friends.
Next Tuesday, Feb. 2, the Boulder City Council will discuss and potentially decide what to about some prairie dogs whom many North Boulder residents would like poisoned so they don't have to look at an 'unsightly' prairie dog barrier in their new $12 million park. At the 1/18 council meeting, at which Council finalized its prairie dog ordinance, most of the public comment prior to the ordinance discussion involved complaints about the prairie dogs and the barrier the city planned to build to keep the prairie dogs out of Foothills Community Park. These residents have been extremely vocal on this issue, while animal advocates have been focusing on getting the wildlife ordinance passed. Now it's time for us to speak up about this colony. Council needs to hear:
Please attend the Boulder City Council meeting Tuesday, Feb. 2, and speak during the public hearing for this agenda item (sometime after 7 p.m.). Sign up on a blue slip to speak. Or write to council at council@ci.boulder.co.us. Contact Jill Bielawski (jillb@rmad.org) or Lindsey Sterling Krank (lindseypdc@yahoo.com) for more information.
RMAD folks (and others; feel free to cross-post), I'd like to find a person or couple for an interesting business/career situation. I have a beautiful house up in Indian Hills (near Evergreen) and would like to make it into a socially-conscious (incl vegan) special events/ retreat center. I need a person or couple to live on-site, set up a special events business and then manage it. One person could handle the job I think, though obviously two could make it easier than one. Without going into too much detail, the person/people need to be really socially conscious, have a solid business background, be exceptionally good at working with people and be very well-organized. Special events experience would obviously be a plus as well. The pay will be negotiable but would include getting to live in a home with views to die for and the chance to make the world a better place. The only downside (though its a plus for many) is that it's not in a neighborhood, per se, so it's probably not the right situation for someone with kids. I'd live there myself and do this, but (a) my 6 yr old would be unhappy living there, and (b) I've got too much other stuff going on. Let me know. Write back and I'll give you more info and send you some pictures. I'd like to get this whole gig going sooner rather than later. March would be a good time to start, for example. Feel free to pass this on to someone you know who would love to do something like this. Thanks, David Hatch
